Forum on Technology Transfer, Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship Resource Network for Africa
Universities and public research institutions in Africa have developed technologies to help address problems related to food, nutrition, and health security, energy, environment, natural resources, infrastructure, and economic growth. However, many of these technologies are not efficiently reaching farmers and end-users.
Many public research institutions and universities in Africa and all over the world have taken positive steps and are creating enabling environments and support systems to enhance their capacities for technology transfer and commercialization of innovations. With globalization and the increased role of the private sector, the role of public-private partnerships is evolving, and new approaches are being explored to efficiently transfer and commercialize technologies through innovative partnerships.
The African Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with Michigan State University, will organize a two-day Forum in Nairobi, Kenya on September 26-27, 2023, at the African Academy of Sciences.
This Forum aims to bring together technology managers, research directors, and entrepreneurs from all regions of Africa to:
- Share successful examples of intellectual property management and technology transfer programs from public universities and research institutions in Africa, USA, and India.
- Establish a continent-wide resource network and platform in Africa for continued sharing of information related to policies, best practices, and real-world experiences of technology transfer, commercialization, and entrepreneurship programs.
